L.E.A.P. Arizona 2007
Lyme Disease Patient/Physician
Benefit Road Trip
May 14 - 16
Dear Lyme Friends:
We are sorry that we have not provided an update since March. We have been very busy preparing for May and an unforeseen trip at the end of April and lasting until mid May kept us busy, too.
We hope that things are going well for you and hope to talk to you at our Telephone Lyme Support Group Meeting on Tuesday, June 5th. The details are given below.
On April 28th, some friends in Phoenix were loading their moving truck to make the move to Atlanta, Georgia. There wasn't enough room in the truck, so they asked my husband if we could bring their musical instruments in our van. They agreed to pay the gas and motel rooms for the trip, and our other friends who already live outside of Atlanta told us we could stay at their house. I only had 30 minutes to decide whether or not to go! My husband really wanted to go, so I agreed. We left on April 29th.
Overnight I decided to turn this into the 2007
Lyme Disease Patient/Physician Benefit Road Trip. We lit a torch across
from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia on
May 14th and kept it lit until we got home to Mesa, Arizona. We travelled
more than 1800 miles on this return trip, and we are asking every person to
pledge a small amount for each mile travelled. You can read about our road
trip on the home page of our website at
www.leaparizona.com.
There will also be an article in the JULY issue of the Public Health Alert.
A link to the Public Health Alert is also provided on our website. Here is

L.E.A.P. ARIZONA WEBSITE COMPLETED
We are happy to announce that all pages have been published to our website! This has been a very long process. Many hours have gone into developing our website to provide as much information for you as possible. All the RECIPES are posted, along with ALTERNATIVE HEALTH info and the POETRY page as well. We hope you will find what you are looking for.
We are still looking for patient stories. Please take a few minutes to write your story and tell others about your experience with Lyme disease. It helps people a great deal to be able to read about another person's story and how Lyme has affected their life. It helps patients to know that they are not alone on this difficult journey.
IMPORTANT -- WE INVITE YOU TO POST YOUR LYME STORY ON L.E.A.P.'s WEBSITE. EMAIL YOUR STORY TO tinajgarcia@yahoo.com WITH PERMISSION FOR US TO PUBLISH YOUR STORY ON OUR PATIENT STORIES PAGE.
We have had more than 65,000 visits to our website since its inception in September of 2005!

We hope you have the chance to pick one up in your doctor’s office, but if not, you may access all issues on our website at www.leaparizona.com. DO YOU KNOW OF A DOCTOR WHO IS NOT RECEIVING COPIES? PLEASE LET US KNOW AT leaparizona@yahoo.com
Do you need educational materials? If so, please let us know. L.E.A.P. Arizona provides flyers with information relating to Lyme disease. If you would like to receive these flyers, please email your name and address to us at leaparizona@yahoo.com. We will mail the flyers to you.

We know how difficult it is for Lyme patients to donate, so we have come up with an idea that enables Lyme patients to participate without having to part with funds that they need for their treatment, etc. We encourage Lyme disease patients to become involved in helping each other, and this new program will enable you to do so without it being a financial hardship for you. We also welcome anyone else who finds it in their heart to pledge a small amount each month to help us provide financial assistance for those who need it most. WE NEED YOUR HELP! WE HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO REACH OUT TO THOSE IN NEED.
