My husband and I are so grateful for the $100.00 you sent
from the Lyme group. My husband and I were on Jekyll Island
in 1991 and took a walk on a nature trail. Little did we know
about Lyme. As we proceeded down the trail my husband kept
brushing tiny little TICKS off my body. When we arrived at our
campsite we picked off ticks like little monkeys. We never gave
it another thought. I started to complain of Lyme symptoms, but
had NO idea what was going on. 16 years and about $500,000
later I find myself in terrible shape. I have my RN, BSN, but what
good does it do me?
The Lyme has affected my brain along with other parts of my body.
I now am unable to work. My husband owns his own business
(a small machine shop), in fact so small he is the only employee.
He works 12-14 hr days plus takes care of me and the house,
cooking etc. etc. The Lord has been good to us and thus far has
enabled my husband to keep up this terrible schedule.
I thank the Lord for a group such as yours and pray the Lord will
stabilize my Lyme so we may multiply your effort and strengthen our
little group in Greenville, SC. My desire is to educate people of our
state for there is such ignorance especially within the medical
community. In September 2005 I was forced to leave my position as
Health Educator at Greenville Hospital System due to the fact that I
could no longer remember what and when I was teaching classes.
Although my supervisor was very understanding my body was no
longer able to perform.
I applied for disability 2 years ago, but it has been told to me that
it takes a long time to receive Social Security Disability. Again I
would like to thank your group for help in payment of the hospital bill.
