Tick Removal and Collection

How To Remove a Tick

  1.    Use tweezers to grasp the body of the tick as close
to the point of attachment as possible.

  2.    Remove the tick slowly by pulling it out without
turning it.  Try not to break it apart during the removal.

  3.    After removing the tick, wash the area well with soap
and water.  Apply antiseptic to the area of attachment.

  4.    Do not use matches, needles or pins to remove the
tick.  Do not use gasoline, lighter fluid, oil or other
fluids.  Using these methods can cause the tick to
        regurgitate infection into your body.

PROTECTION

  ●       Keep pant legs tucked inside of boots.

    ●       Check yourself and others for ticks.

  ●       Put clothing and sleeping bags in hot dryer for an hour.

  ●      Chemical repellants are available that contain Permethrin.
We do not recommend the use of chemicals due to
toxicity.  It is a personal decision to use chemical
       repellants.

NEVER spray repellants directly on your skin.
Spray on clothing and outdoor gear ONLY.
